Women in BIM Kazakhstan: The first step toward the community

Women in BIM Kazakhstan: The first step toward the community 🏗️✨

Almaty hosted the first meeting of the international Women in BIM (WIB) community in Kazakhstan.

Digital construction leaders, representatives of Autodesk, KazNIISA, Kazgor, and KGNT gathered on one platform to lay the foundation for a new professional networking in Central Asia.

KGNT was an active participant in this movement. One of the program’s key highlights was the “Business Success Story” session with a presentation by our CEO Alexandra Bekisheva.

Why is this important for KGNT?

For us, participation is not just an entry in the calendar, but part of a large development strategy:

* Knowledge sharing: Alexandra shared a real case study of KGNT’s establishment. For young specialists and students of specialized universities, this is a rare opportunity to hear about the journey “first-hand” from local challenges to international recognition.

* Strengthening the HR brand: We broadcast values of openness and leadership. Such meetings help us attract the best talents who are passionate about digitalization to our team.

KGNT today is not only about design but also a center of competence shaping the BIM agenda in the region.

The participants discussed the BIM competency map, team management issues, and career trajectories.

The evening concluded with live networking, where business experience and the energy of young talent met in an informal setting.

We share experience so that innovations become tradition. We are glad to be at the origins of forming such a powerful community in Kazakhstan! 🇰🇿💻

KGNT: A new stage in the development of domestic engineering in partnership with JSC «NC «KazMunayGas»

KGNT: A new stage in the development of domestic engineering in partnership with
JSC «NC «KazMunayGas»
Astana hosted a landmark meeting of Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas Askhat Khasenov with the heads of the country’s leading design organizations. KGNT Company, as one of the flagships of Kazakhstani engineering, took an active part in discussing the future of the industry.
The main leitmotif of the meeting was the transition from the simple adaptation of foreign drawings to the full-fledged participation of domestic specialists in key design stages.
For KGNT, this development vector coincides with the company’s internal strategy. We have the necessary experience and technical base to not only support projects, but also act as their main developers at the stages of FEED (basic design) and Detailed Engineering (operational design).

Why is this important for the market and KGNT?
The strengthening of the role of Kazakhstani companies initiated by KMG opens up new horizons for us:
1) Competence building: Direct participation in complex technological projects allows our engineers to work at the level of world standards.
2) Long-term planning: Discussing issues of long-term cooperation provides an opportunity to invest in staff training and modern software.
3) Efficiency for the country: The use of in-depth knowledge of local norms, standards and the specifics of the region (which KGNT is renowned) guarantees more effective implementation of KMG projects.
As a result of the meeting, questions were discussed/raised about the expansion of the participation of Kazakhstani engineers at all stages of the life cycle of oil and gas facilities. KGNT confirms its readiness to act as a reliable partner of JSC «NC «KazMunayGas», providing high-quality design solutions and contributing to the development of Kazakhstan’s industrial potential.

KGNT Participated in the Second Meeting of the Local Content Working Group

On January 15, 2026, the second meeting of the working group on the development of local content in petrochemical projects was held at the KazEnergy Association site in Astana, where the engineering company KGNT took an active part as a representative of engineering in Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the KGNT emphasized the importance of systemized engagement of Kazakhstani engineering companies and industrial enterprises in implementing large-scale petrochemical projects at design, engineering, equipment supply and construction support stages. Particular attention was paid to practical issues of increasing local content and developing sustainable supply chains within the country.

The key discussion topics included projects to build a Polyethylene Plant and a Gas Separation Complex in the Atyrau region, where, the participants think there is significant potential for expanding the Kazakhstani companies’ involvement in providing engineering services and localization of critical equipment.

The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant government agencies, JSC KazMunaiGas, SPE Atameken, industrial associations and research center as well as international EPC contractors such as Tecnicas Reunidas and Tecnimont. The dialogue with foreign general contractors allowed for a substantive discussion of opportunities integrating Kazakhstani companies into international EPC chains.

Following the meeting, proposals were studied together with initiatives put forward by KGNT, aimed at localizing the production of key goods and services in the petrochemical industry. The main barriers and limitations preventing an increase in the share of local content in large-scale investment projects were identified.

“EC “KGNT” LLP Joins the Work Group on Local Content Development in Petrochemicals

The importance of increasing local content in major petrochemical projects in Kazakhstan is becoming a key priority for both the State and business. To ensure an effective dialogue, a Work Group has been established, comprising heads of government authorities, representatives of the quasi-public sector, and leading companies in the industry. After six months of consideration, our company officially became a member of the Work Group as of December 2025, by decision of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Meetings of the Work Group are held twice a year under the chairmanship of the Vice Minister, where key decisions are made on the development of domestic participation in the country’s oilfield services and petrochemical projects. For KGNT, it is a new stage of cooperation with the State and an opportunity to play a more active role in increasing the level of local content and advancing the development of Kazakhstan’s petrochemical industry.
